Since 2019, we've brought the rich heritage of Vietnamese craftsmanship into homes worldwide. Our products are made from natural materials and are free from harmful chemicals, supporting sustainable living. Our Story
IndochinaLight's roots run deep in Vietnam's rich cultural heritage. Lewis Nguyen, IndochinaLight's founder, grew up in a traditional village famous for weaving bamboo and rattan products. Surrounded by skilled craftsmen, he developed a passion for preserving and sharing Vietnamese craftsmanship with the world.
Before founding IndochinaLight, Lewis spent years working in interior design, studying weaving techniques and modern design principles side by side, a foundation that shaped how the brand blends heritage with function today. This led to the birth of IndochinaLight, driven by two main goals: showcasing the beauty of Vietnamese artisanal work and creating sustainable job opportunities for local artisans.
Our Craft
Every IndochinaLight fixture follows the same six-step process, honed since 2019 to balance authenticity with durability:
- Selection: We hand-select rattan and bamboo for quality, then strip the outer bark to reveal a smooth, workable core.
- Preparation: We split the core into uniform strands and strips, sized to each design's requirements.
- Treatment: We smoke the materials to increase termite resistance and improve flexibility, then boil them to remove impurities and enhance elasticity before naturally sun-drying.
- Frame building: We shape, precisely measure, and assemble each frame to form the fixture's skeleton.
- Hand-weaving: Our artisans hand-weave each piece, so no two fixtures are ever exactly alike.
- Quality control: We inspect every piece for joint strength, rattan durability, electrical components, and bulb function, then clean it and give it a final aesthetic assessment before it ships.
Every fixture's electrical components are UL Listed, CE Certified, and cULus Approved, so beauty never comes at the expense of safety.

Our Mission

Our Vision
Today, IndochinaLight already ships to homes around the world, a reach we set out to build when we first opened our doors in 2019. Looking ahead, we have even more ambitious goals. Over the next five years, we plan to deepen our presence in at least 10 countries, focusing on markets in Europe and North America, where we believe there's a growing appreciation for sustainable, artisanal home decor.
Alongside our market expansion, we're deeply committed to community development. Our three-year plan includes creating at least 150 jobs for artisans in Phu Vinh craft village. This initiative not only preserves traditional skills but also contributes to local economic growth, which is crucial for sustainable community development.
