Selecting bamboo and rattan

The production of a premium bamboo and rattan pendant light at IndochinaLight starts with the careful selection of raw, sustainable natural materials. Rattan and bamboo are chosen with precision, considering their age, flexibility, and shape.

The bamboo used in these pendant lights is ideally between five and ten years old, offering the right balance of strength and flexibility for weaving. Younger bamboo lacks durability, while older bamboo becomes brittle and unsuitable. The selected bamboo must have straight, smooth stems with minimal knots, as this enhances the finished lamp’s softness and aesthetic appeal.

Splitting and making bamboo/rattan strips

Once selected, the materials undergo a transformation process. For rattan, the outer bark is meticulously stripped to reveal the smooth, workable core. This core is then split into uniform strands, a process that requires precision and skill.

Bamboo undergoes a similar treatment. It's split into strips, with the size determined by the final product's requirements. This step is crucial in maintaining consistency across our product line.

Anti-corrosion and anti-mold treatment

• Boiling process: This method serves multiple purposes. It removes impurities, eliminates harmful bacteria, and significantly enhances the material's elasticity. After boiling, the materials are dried naturally or in controlled environments to achieve the desired hardness.

Making the pendant frame and assembly

• Drying and preservation: We employ natural drying methods in controlled environments to prevent deformation. Post-drying, products undergo anti-termite and anti-mold treatments. These treatments significantly extend the product's lifespan in varying climatic conditions.
• Surface coating and coloring: During the final touch, woven shades are either kept in their natural golden hue or finished with eco-friendly stains. Crafting a sophisticated rattan pendant light involves applying protective black lacquer layers that accentuate the handcrafted weave while providing superior moisture protection.
• Electrical system installation: Trained technicians install light bulbs and connect the electrical systems, adhering to international safety standards. Each unit undergoes electrical testing to ensure flawless functionality.
